In the Summer ’12 release, the Database.com documentation portal (docs.database.com) receives a facelift. Along with an updated visual style, we’ve added new features to help you find the documentation you need. These new features include:

Guides and Resources table

The Guides and Resources table lists all books and videos included in the Database.com documentation set. However, this table is more than a simple list. It is sortable on four fields:

  • Title
  • Type (Guide, Release Notes, Workbook, Video)
  • Feature area (REST API, Apex, etc.)
  • Last updated (the date of the most recent revision)

An icon to the left of each document title also indicates the document type.

Guides and Resources filters

You can filter the Guides and Resources table to show only documents for a certain feature area or type of content. Simply type the feature area or documentation type into the Filter guides and resources text box.

Filter search results

When you perform a search, you can filter the results by selecting category tags. The list of tags appears to the left of the search results list. Check one or more tags to show only articles that match your selections plus your search criteria.

Along with these features, you now get links for first-time users, links to most popular documents, and expandable tables of contents. Enjoy!
