Migration is part of nature. Birds migrate to warmer climes when cold weather approaches. Bears hibernate for the winter. Monarch butterflies travel up to 3,000 miles on their migration journey.

From swallows to gray whales to Canadian geese, moving from one place to another is a way to take advantage of better conditions. Now you can add Salesforce workbooks to that list. That’s right, the Salesforce doc team is in the process of moving our workbooks over to Trailhead to take advantage of the better experience it offers our customers.

Trailhead is the fun way to learn Salesforce — and it’s also hands-on! So it was a natural migration to take our workbooks, expand them, and move them over to Trailhead. Just like workbooks, Trailhead lets you get hands-on with Salesforce. But it brings you a more interactive experience where you can verify your results to make sure you’re doing things the right way. Plus, you earn badges that demonstrate to employers or prospective employers that you know your stuff.

So, what can you expect to find in Trailhead?

With Trailhead, you choose how you want to learn. Choose your own adventure with modules or projects. Follow our guided learning paths with trails. Or take on simulated business challenges and reinvent your resume with superbadges.

• Modules—Modules typically go into more depth on a given topic, so you get more information and learn more. And they have built-in quizzes and hands-on challenges that help you determine that you understand what you’ve learned and that you’ve successfully applied it in an actual org.
• Projects—Projects take the old step-by-step pieces of workbooks and enable you to learn by getting hands-on. Projects have interactive challenges that verify the changes you’ve made in an org.
• Trails—Trails group modules and projects into a guided learning path so you can see connected information. For example, the Service Cloud Workbook was expanded and updated to become the Keep Customers Happy with Service Cloud trail.
• Superbadges—Superbadges are business scenarios where you’re tasked with using your Salesforce skills to solve business challenges, such as scaling the infrastructure of a growing business, automating sales and customer service processes, and engaging with customers using mobile apps. Superbadges are skill-based credentials that prove that you can take what you’ve learned and apply it to solve complex real-world business problems.
