At Dreamforce 2014, Kalimah Priforce, Co-Founder of Qeyno Labs, and Bryan Goodson, Business Solution Sr. Consultant at Salesforce (who mentored at the #YesWeCode Hackathon at EssenceFest in July 2014), spoke about the impact that mentoring youth has, both on the youth and the mentor. As Developers, Administrators, and Business Leaders, you all have the opportunity to make a difference in this way.

Ayori Selassie, one of Salesforce’s BoldForce leaders, hosted the session. She said it best in her closing:

“Having been involved myself, it is truly a life-changing experience. So, if you got a chill when you were watching this presentation, you will not be able to describe the experience you have when you actually participate.”

MBKHack Philly

November 14-16th, 2014, in Philadelphia, PA, Salesforce is sponsoring #YesWeCode and Qeyno Labs as they deliver the first-ever hackathon for the White House initiative “My Brother’s Keeper.” The 3-day youth hackathon will take place at the String Theory Schools located at 1600 Vine Street in Philadelphia. Through community partnerships, #YesWeCode and Qeyno Labs will provide Philadelphia’s boys, girls, and transgender youth, ages 13-20, a safe-environment, mentors and technological tools needed to solve local community problems through designing and building apps.

In addition to youth participants, they have a need for volunteers, designers and developers. I am attending as a Designer Mentor, and if you are interested in a life-changing weekend, I highly recommend that you join me.
