Each week we chat with an AppExchange Partner about their experience of building an app on the Salesforce1 Platform. This week, the spotlight is on NewVoiceMedia, who provides contact center technology as a true cloud service over the Internet. Their customers benefit from enterprise-class contact center functionality, at a fraction of the cost of traditional systems. Additionally, NewVoiceMedia recently secured $50m in funding. This new investment will accelerate the company’s rapid international expansion, develop its portfolio of award-winning true cloud solutions and strengthen its infrastructure, sales, marketing and professional services capability in North America, APAC and EMEA.

ContactWorld

The ability to capture calls in real-time is great for customers. Previously, it was difficult to keep track of calls that field sales agents made while they were out on the road. It was even more difficult for these calls to be recorded. With their app, ContactWorld, a field sales agent can make a call and get all of the great benefits of recording notes in Salesforce. They also get the added benefits from the NewVoiceMedia system such as greater flexibility, simpler management since there is no requirements for IT specialists, and better visibility into the entire operation. Notes can be made directly from their mobile phone, while call details and a recording are added to the task in Salesforce. All of this is done in one system rather than on multiple platforms.

One App for Every Device

NewVoiceMedia managed to go from idea to launch in just two short weeks. In the past, they’ve created other mobile apps and understood the pains of developing for multiple platforms and devices. Having used Salesforce internally, it helped that they were already familiar with the Salesforce Platform. Now with Salesforce1, a lot of the traditional problems with mobile app development were removed. Instead of writing code for each type of platform and device, Salesforce1 makes it instantly accessible across all devices. Development time and testing were eliminated.

At NewVoiceMedia, they split their development team into feature teams who work together to deliver complete features, and this coupled with their agile process, allowed them to deliver and iterate on features very quickly. They were able to turn ideas into a product that a customer can actually use. In turn, they delivered the features to the customer and quickly received feedback. With the Salesforce1 Platform, they delivered mobile features in essentially no time.

Opportunities

They have had a number of great marketing opportunities come from creating the a Salesforce1 Mobile App. They were featured in Tom Cannon’s session at the Salesforce1 World Tour in London where he explained how easy it was to create the app from idea to end product in such a short amount of time. They were also featured at EMEA’s biggest and leading Cloud event, Cloud World Forum, held in June of this year.
