Was it Steve Jobs who first said, “real developers ship”? Regardless, that sentiment needs updating for our time, when a cloud service can be globally deployed in the moment after the final pass of the acceptance test. What’s the verb equivalent to “ship” for a service?
Whatever we decide to call it, Appirio invites us all to raise the bar to that level with its challenge to the state of California: a dare to let Appirio do a Force.com prototype of the system that the state desperately needs, RIGHT NOW, to cut checks for federal funds going to in-state recipients. Kudos to the Appirio guys for changing the terms of debate.
