# `QUOTE_IDENT`

Returns a string suitably quoted to be used as an SQL identifier.

## Syntax

```sql
quote_ident(<string>)
```

## Arguments

### Required

- `<string>`: The identifier string to quote.

## Returns

Returns a text value with appropriate quoting for use as an identifier.

## Considerations

- Quotes are added only if necessary (special characters or case-folding).
- Embedded quotes are properly doubled.

## Examples

### Quote Identifier

Quote an identifier with spaces.

```sql
SELECT quote_ident('Foo bar') AS result;
```

Returns `'"Foo bar"'`.
