# Handlebars Helper Function: now

Returns the current date and time. This function takes no parameters and always returns the current server timestamp. You can’t specify a time zone for this function.

## Availability

This helper is available in the Summer ’26 release of Marketing Cloud Next.

## Syntax

```handlebars
{{now}}
```

## Parameters

This function doesn’t accept any parameters. If you pass parameters, they’re ignored.

## Return Value

The function returns the current server date and time as a date-time value in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The output resembles this example: `2026-05-01T15:01:13`.
