# set()

Sets the value referenced using property syntax.

## Signature

`set(String key, Object value)`

## Parameters

***key*:** Type: `String`. The data key to set on the component; for example, `cmp.set("v.key","value")`.

***value*:** Type: `Object`. The value to set.
