# Activate MCP Servers

MCP servers are disabled in your org by default and must be enabled by an administrator before clients can connect. This is a security measure — capabilities that expose org data to external systems require an intentional administrator action to activate.

> **Warning:** If you don't enable your MCP servers, clients will not be able to connect, even with correct authentication.

## Enable Servers

1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter **MCP Servers**, and then select **MCP Servers** under API Catalog.

2. Review the list of available servers.

3. Enable the servers your team needs by toggling them on.

> **Note:** It can take up to 2 minutes for a server to become active after you enable it.

## Next Steps

After enabling your MCP servers, proceed to [connect your MCP client](/docs/platform/hosted-mcp-servers/guide/client-connection-overview.md).
