# Sending an Email with Visualforce

It is possible to send email using Visualforce by creating a [custom controller](/docs/platform/salesforce-pages-developers-guide/guide/pages-controller-custom.md) to deliver the message. The Apex `Messaging.SingleEmailMessage` class handles the outbound email functionality available to Salesforce.
