Work with Opportunities in the Kanban View | Trailhead Screen Reader Instructions
Introduction
The Opportunity Kanban is a visual summary of all the opportunities for a particular sales path.
By seeing all opportunities at once, sales reps can keep deals moving forward and sales managers can effectively monitor the pipeline and ensure everyone’s staying on course.
Members of the sales team have asked for guidance on how to customize what they see when they view their Opportunity detail pages.
Change the View
- Select the Opportunities tab from the global navigation menu.
- Click the Select List View button and select My Opportunities.
- Click the Display As button and choose Kanban.
Note: You may have noticed the Record Types (B2B Opportunities & Uncategorized) are now listed above the Sales Path. You can toggle between the two Record Types but for testing purposes, we'll keep Uncategorized selected.
Next, show the sales reps how to customize the card fields in their view:
- Select Opportunities from the navigation menu and switch the list view to My Opportunities.
- Activate the List View Controls button to open the list view controls menu.
- Select Fields to Display from the menu.
- In the Available Fields list, use the Add and Remove controls to add and remove options from the Visible Fields list until only these options remain in the Visible Fields list:
- Opportunity Name
- Amount
- Expected Revenue
- Owner Full Name
- Use the Move Selection Up and Move Selection Down buttons to be sure the options are in the same order as listed above.
- Activate the Save button.
Add a Filter
Now, show them how they can filter their view. For example, show all opportunities with a probability of 20% or more.
- Activate the Show Filters button to open the filter menu.
- Activate the Add Filter button.
- Create the new filter with these parameters:
Field |
Operator |
Value |
Probability (%) |
greater or equal |
20 |
- Activate the Done button.
- Activate the Save button.
Add a Chart
Finally, they can add a customized chart to the View.
- Activate the Show Charts toggle button to open the chart menu.
- Below the Hide Charts button is text reading Chart Options. Below this is a button menu. Set this to Pipeline By Stage.
- Continue navigating down by the arrow key. You will pass a control for Enabling tab navigation for screen readers. Keep going. Below this control is text reading Chart: Untitled. Directly below this is a clickable submenu called Settings. Press ENTER here. Nothing announces to the screen reader when text expands, but if you press down arrow, you will find that a menu has opened. Press ENTER on Vertical Bar Chart from the list under the Display As heading.
- Activate the Hide Charts button, and let's move some opportunities along to different stages.
Move an Opportunity
The Kanban view also allows your sales team to move opportunities from one stage to another by simply dragging and dropping. Give them a demo.
- Click the Hide Charts button to hide the chart.
- Turn the JAWS virtual cursor off or place NVDA into focus mode.
- Press TAB until you reach the record for United Oil Plant Standby Generators. You should hear the record name, amount, account name, and instructions all announced at once when you reach the correct location.
- Press SPACEBAR. In the menu that appears, choose the Value Proposition stage.
- Note that the dollar amounts at the top of the columns automatically recalculate.
Hurray! You’ve reached the end of your journey down the sales path path. You’ve created a sales process and a record type, customized qualification stages, and worked with the sales path table view. Now your sales reps can easily access the information they need to reach their final destination: sealing the deal.
