Work with Schema Builder | Trailhead Screen Reader Instructions

Learning Objectives

For screen reader users, the Schema Builder may not be the most useful tool for creating or visualizing your data model. As mentioned in the Trailhead reading, the primary function of this tool is to provide a quick visual overview of your org's data architecture.

Schema Builder combines a drag-and-drop interface with a canvas and other graphical elements which may not be the best user experience for screen reading software.

However, Schema Builder is simply a visual tool, and all the same functionality is available by creating objects and fields as described in the previous exercises for this unit. Due to accessibility challenges inherent in this interface, screen reader users may wish to explore the Schema Builder but choose to use the text-based Object Manager interface instead.

To that end, screen reader users may complete the challenge for this unit by utilizing the functionality covered in previous exercises. Using the Schema Builder tool is not required for successful completion of the challenge. Read along with the main Trailhead instructions to understand a little bit about this tool, then proceed to the challenge using the Object Manager tab from Setup as described in the two previous units.
