Disclaimer : I have read the all the documentation for sites, so please don't just post links.
I am just curious to hear from folks who have used Sites, as to the limitations surrounding it, like
Any advice/information in this regards would be much appreciated.

I am just curious to hear from folks who have used Sites, as to the limitations surrounding it, like
- Can I build a site which accepts details and attachments (like a form) from site users , without the need for any additional license?
- Can I build workflows and approval processes around the records which were captured via sites?
- How many folks can access the site per month?
- What happens when site limits are breached?
- How many clicks to the site are allowed per day?
- How much should Aura compenents be involved in building sites or can it just be a simple VF page?
Any advice/information in this regards would be much appreciated.

1.Yes,you can build communities/sites which accepts inputs including files.
2.Yes,you can update the records created by the guest users.
3.
Unlimited Edition-MAXIMUM NUMBER OF COMMUNITIES:100
MAXIMUM PAGE VIEWS:1,000,000/month

4.If it hits the maximum page views then the salesforce will be notified as it is multitenant platform and other customers might affect.
5.There is no such limit on the clicks on the community.
6.Yes,you can customize the site by using Aura components.Please refer the below thread for more information:

The details about stite limits was helpful.
One question though, is it required to have a Community ( and Community licenses) for building a Salesforce Site?
My understanding was that we can simply build a Site for data capture in any custom/standard object without the need for building Communities.
Ideal site would be public with access to anyone with a link, not some community with the need to login.
Yes,you can simply create the Public site using the visualforce page without using any licenses and community which can accepts the inputs from the guest user and create the records.
