adding custom field on Chatter objects

Is it possible to add new custom field in chatter object?

if yes please tell me how we should go for that ...

What do you mean by Chatter objects Bala?  Can you give an example?

 

Do you mean a Chatter-enabled object, or something like EntitySubscription?  If the latter (EntitySubscription say) then the answer is no.

Chater objects means  Salesforce Chatter Objects

 

example of chatter objects like FeedComment currently there are following fields for FeedComment commentBody, feedItemId and ParentId.

 

Can I add one more custom field for feedComment ?

I want to  customize fields on chatter object of any application.

Examples:

If i want to hide the recommendatoins (on the right of page) or i want to edit the messages or add refresh button to refresh the messages etc
