How to customize Home page layout

Hi Guys
I am looking for customizing my standard home page layout.can any body have sample code please share....

need to customize my home page layout like one bar on top page and on both corner (right and left) should be dropdown (one is having application list) second having setup details with profile pic.

Ok .Click YourName-->setup-->Customize-->Home-->home Page layout
