Can you explain Report types and where we can use with a small business scenario.

Report types allow you to join different objects together in different ways so that you can report on them. For example you may have created a custom object which has lookup fields to an account, contact, case and opportunity. But if you wanted to report on that object (eg all cases that are open that have opportunities that are open) you wouldn't be able to make the report until you had created a report type that links all those objects together.

report types are tabular, matrix, summary. in which situation we are using these type of reports , can u explain it?

You can look in the help to find your answer. But don't search for report types as that means something different in Salesforce search on the different types of reports.
