Dreamforce this year is going to be huge. This year we have something like 90+ developer sessions alone. There are the typical big sessions like the Platform State of the Union, Intro to Force.com, and hands on sessions which always fill up very quickly. I was just discussing this, and how the developer zone has changed over the years. We were checking out the full session agenda from the very first Dreamforce in 2003, and it was easy to know what sessions you wanted to attended. Even now, a lot of people, lean towards sessions and topics they know, often missing out on gems that may not be immediately obvious.

Over the next few weeks, I am going to post 2-3 sessions a day which I think are going to be pretty interesting sessions, but may not have hit your radar. I’m going to post these here, on the developer.force.com blog, and also within the Dreamforce org via my Chatter user. (I might also post a few clues to some of the Cloud Trivia session questions, if you want to get a jump start)

To kick it off, here are 3 sessions I’m adding to my hidden gems list of Dreamforce sessions (Note: the links below, link directly to session records in the Dreamforce app):

1. Building & Deploying great Applications with Salesforce, Ruby, and Heroku – 8/30 @ 5pm

You may know be aware, but Force.com and the developer community have been using Ruby for many years, the original gem was made available in 2005. Since that time, a lot has changed. This session is going to highlight the latest news on this front. Make sure you come to this session to check out how easy it is to build apps which connect the clouds.

2. Cloud Trivia – 8/30 @ 5pm with the Finale on 9/2 @ 11:30

During the past year, the Force.com crew has been having a lot of fun at the developer meetups around the country with some cloud trivia. Now it is time to bring it to Dreamforce. Want to test your Force.com knowledge, and win prizes like an ipad, ipods, and more? Register for this session, and make sure you bring your a-game.

3. Heroku in the Enterprise 9/1 @2:45

I just reviewed the presentation for this session this morning. I’m pretty excited about it especially after being involved in writing the Heroku demo’s last year that we used on the main stage when Salesforce announced the acquisition of Heroku. Only a year on, so much has changed. This session will give you a great overview.

That’s it for today’s list. Don’t forget to check out the Dreamforce org, where I will keep posting more recommendations on Chatter.
