Prepare Your Jira Connection
Before you connect Jira to Data Cloud, gather the required information and perform these preliminary actions in Jira and Salesforce.
- Locate your Jira site URL. The URL ends with .atlassian.net (for example, yourcompany.atlassian.net).
- Identify the Jira username for the account being used for the connection. Use an account with the necessary permissions to access the required data.
- Choose either Jira's OAuth credentials or tokens as the authentication method. This is how you grant Salesforce permission to access Jira. Methods can vary depending on the Jira product you have.
- To generate tokens, see Atlassian's personal access token (PAT) guide for Jira Data Center or the API token guide for Jira Cloud.
- To create OAuth credentials, see Atlassian's OAuth guide for Jira Data Center or Jira Cloud. Then, regardless of your Jira product, next, create external credentials for the Jira connector in Salesforce.
- Verify the Jira account used for the connection has the necessary permissions to access the required data.
- Add the Data Cloud IP addresses to your Jira allowlist, if your Jira instance restricts access by IP address. You may need your Jira administrator's assistance to do this.
After gathering this information and completing these actions in Jira, you can start setting up your Jira connection in Salesforce.
