The Salesforce1 Lightning Platform enables the next generation of mobile, social enterprise apps. Trailhead is a new(ish) platform for learning the Salesforce with fun, hands-on online tutorials. So what happens when you put the two together? You get a supercharged Trailhead with new Lightning content! This week, we’ve added two new Lightning modules to Trailhead.

Lightning Components

The new Lightning Components module is a great way for developers to learn how to build reusable components that can be assembled into complex, modern web apps. If you’ve been meaning to dive into Lightning Components since last year’s Dreamforce, there is no better time to get started. This module covers topics like attributes, events, writing client-side JavaScript controllers, invoking Apex server-side logic and much more. By the end, you’ll have created your very first Lightning Component and validated your knowledge with hands-on challenges. Plus, you’ll collect more points and a shiny new badge!

Process Automation

The Process Automation module has been completely revamped and now includes Lightning Process Builder, our next generation workflow automation tool. Best of all, it answers the million dollar question – which process automation tool (Process Builder, Flow, Workflow Rules, Approvals) is right for your business needs. If there was an #awesomeadmin happy dance, I’d be doing one right now.

Even if you had already earned this badge before these updates, you can collect more points by completing the new Process Builder and Approval challenges.

These two new modules are a great companion to our Lightning Developer Week coming to a city near you in early March. If you haven’t done so already, sign-up for a Developer or User Group meetup near you. You can even tackle these modules in advance of the Lightning Developer Week and show off your new Lightning badges to your developer and admin friends.

Happy trails!
