Try It Out: Create More Global Actions

We’ll start with a global action to create new IT positions. Repeat all the steps you completed to create the New Standard Position global action, but set the record type to IT Position. When that’s done, use the following table to create the other two global actions.

Global Action Action Information Action Layout

New Candidate

  • Action Type: Create a Record
  • Target Object: Candidate
  • Standard Label Type: New “Record”
  • Name: New_Candidate

Column 1:

  • First Name
  • Email
  • Education

Column 2:

  • Last Name
  • Years of Experience
  • City
New Application
  • Action Type: Create a Record
  • Target Object: Job Application
  • Label: New Application
  • Standard Label Type: --None--
  • Candidate
  • Position
  • Cover Letter

Our New Candidate action doesn’t need any predefined field values, since we can’t predict the values of any of the fields. The New Application action, however, does. We know that every job application created from the publisher should be marked as new. So now create a predefined field value for New Application, automatically setting the Status field to New.
