Get Started with the Tableau Semantics APIs

As of October 14, 2025, Data Cloud has been rebranded to Data 360. During this transition, you may see references to Data Cloud in our application and documentation. While the name is new, the functionality and content remains unchanged.

Get started with the Tableau Semantics APIs.

Use the Tableau Semantics APIs to create Semantic Models and Semantic Calculated Dimensions and Measures in order to input your data into Data Cloud to serve as a single source of truth within Salesforce. Use the Semantic Query API to leverage the data to answer key business questions by sending customizable Semantic Queries based on your Semantic Models.

The Tableau Semantics API is composed of Authoring APIs and Semantic Query APIs.

The Authoring API is used to create and customize Semantic Models and definitions. The Authoring API also allows you to customize a variety of fields within Semantic Definitions and establish relationships between Semantic Definitions to compose a variety of Semantic Models to suit all your business needs.
