Manage Instances in Control Center
Control Center enables you to view the status of instances in your organization, and to perform appropriate actions against those instances, provided you have sufficient permissions. This topic applies to B2C Commerce.
When you log in to Control Center, you can see your organization, your realms, and your instances:
Instance types include:
- First Party Instance
- Primary Instance (PIG)–Production, Staging, and Development
- Secondary Instance (SIG)–Sandbox
- On-Demand Sandbox (ODS)–Sandbox
When you view a realm, you see the aggregated statuses of the instances contained in the realm.
You can search for a specific instance by entering an instance name in the search field.
The following table describes the PIG and SIG statuses shown in Control Center:
| Status | Description | Available actions in Control Center |
|---|---|---|
| System up and running | The instance is running normally. | PIG–restart the instance SIG–restart, stop, or reset the instance |
| System down | The instance is down due to a technical problem, not because a user intentionally stopped the instance. | PIG–restart the instance SIG–start or reset the instance |
| Administratively down | The instance is down because it was manually stopped by an administrator or by a user with permission to stop the instance. (You can check the audit log to see who stopped an instance.) | PIG–you can start the instance SIG–start or initialize the instance |
| Starting | The instance is currently starting. | PIG–no actions available SIG–no actions available |
| System running Reset | The instance is in the process of being initialized. | PIG–no actions available SIG–no actions available |
| System running reset | The instance is in the process of restarting. | PIG–no actions available SIG–no actions available |
| Maintenance | The label "Maintenance" appears in addition to the instance status when Commerce Cloud performs maintenance. No action can be performed by the user during this time. | PIG–no actions available SIG–no actions available |
The following table describes the ODS statuses shown in Control Center:

| Creating | The ODS instance is being created. This status is only used with SIG ODS instances. | ODS–no actions available |

- Use Reset to Initial an Instance in Control Center
If you have sufficient permissions, you can use reset to initialize an instance, resetting the instance to a clean state. Initialization deletes all data from the database. You can initialize SIG (sandbox) instances, but you can't initialize PIG instances (production, staging, and development instances). This limitation prevents the accidental deletion of mission-critical data. - On-Demand Sandbox Operations Scheduler
Use the Control Center Operations Scheduler to start and stop on-demand sandbox (ODS) instances within a realm. By scheduling ODS starts and stops, you can control the usage of ODS credits. The Operations Scheduler is a convenient UI-based tool. Developers can still use the swagger UI or the Sandbox API to schedule operations. This topic applies to B2C Commerce. - View On-Demand Sandbox Usage Statistics in Control Center
You can review 'Minutes up' and 'Minutes down' parameters for your on-demand sandbox usage.
