Push Notifications for Android

Use the Salesforce Engagement SDK to send push notifications to your Android app users. Push notifications help you engage users with timely messages, promotions, and updates.

Before you implement push notifications, complete these tasks:

• Set up Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) in your Google Developer account
• Integrate the SDK for Android
• Configure your Android app in Marketing Cloud Engagement

For Android 13 and later, request runtime notification permission before your app can display notifications.

You can customize the content and behaviors of the notifications that you send. The SDK supports these customizations for Android push notifications:

• Customize Push Notifications — Customize notifications, launch intents, and tap actions
• Advanced Push Notification Customization — Manage all aspects of notification display properties, tap actions, notification channel creation, and launch intent actions
• Custom Notification Channels — Create custom notification channels for Android 8.0 and later
