Create a Jira Unstructured Data Stream (Beta)
Create an Unstructured Data Lake Object (UDLO) in Data Cloud to ingest your organization’s content from Jira into Data 360. The data stream ingests data from your selected repositories into a UDLO and maps it to an Unstructured UDMO. From this UDMO, a search index is created that can now be used to ground AI-generated responses.
See the Unstructured Data Reference for a list of supported file formats.

Prerequisites:
- Set up a Jira connection.
- Verify you have a Jira Project Key.
To create a Jira UDLO:
- From App Launcher, select Data Cloud.
- Select Data Lake Objects, and then select New.
- Select the From External Files tile, and select Next.
- From the New Data Lake Object screen, choose the Jira Unstructured connector tile and select Next.
- From the Connection Details dropdown, choose a Jira unstructured connection that you previously created. Data Cloud auto-populates the source based on the connection you choose.
- In the Project Selection section, for Project Key, enter the Jira Project Key you previously created. If left empty, all projects are ingested.
- In the Content Types field, select the items you want to include from the Jira project. For example:
- Issues - ingests all Jira Issues, both open and closed
- Comments - ingests all comments on all Jira items
- Attachments - ingests all attachments on all Jira Items
- In the Issue Type field, select the issue types you want to include from the Jira project. For example:
- Epic - selects all epics
- Story - selects all user stories
- Bug - selects all bugs
- Task - selects all tasks
- Any other - this is a free text field. You can add a Jira type that you have created. This field is case-sensitive and any mistake results in an error message.
- Apply filters to limit the items you want to ingest and select Next.
By default, everything is ingested. Salesforce recommends to use filters to limit what’s ingested. You can apply any or all of the following filters:
- Creation Date: Select a date range from the calendar widget. Any item created within that date range is ingested. You can select only one date range which includes a Start Date and a Finish Date.
- Last Update Date: Select a date range from the calendar widget. Any item updated within that date range is ingested. You can select only one date range which includes a Start Date and a Finish Date.
- Add an Object Name and an Object API Name for the UDLO. See Data Lake Object Naming Standards. The object API name must be unique and is automatically generated when you add a name to the Object Name field.
- In the Unstructured Data Model Object Mapping section, choose New.
- From the Data Space Dropdown, leave the selection as Default.
- Add an Object Name and an Object API Name for the UDMO Mapping and select Next. See Data Lake Object Naming Standards. The object API name must be unique and is automatically generated when you add a name to the Object Name field.
- In the Search Index Configuration section, leave the checkbox selected to Enable Semantic Search with System Defaults. System defaults automatically select text fields and a chunking strategy for each field. Deselect the checkbox to create a search index configuration later.
- Leave the remaining fields as-is to use the default settings, or rename and change the Search Configuration details and objects to make changes.
- Save your work. The Connector begins to ingest your content. This takes time and depends on the size of the Jira projects you are ingesting.
