Set Up a Google Spanner Connection (Beta)

Set up the Google Spanner connection to start the flow of data into Data Cloud.

This feature is a Beta Service. A customer may opt to try a Beta Service in its sole discretion. Before you begin:

  1. In Data Cloud, click Setup, and select Data Cloud Setup.

  2. Under External Integrations, select Other Connectors.

  3. Click New.

  4. On the Source tab, select Google Spanner and click Next.

  5. Enter a connection name, connection API name, and provide the authentication and connection details.

  6. For Authentication Details, select a Named Credential from the dropdown.

  7. For Connection Details, complete these fields.

    1. Enter an Instance ID, which is the address of the Google Spanner instance to which you’re connecting. You can find this value from the instance overview. Instances are listed when you select Spanner from the Google Cloud Console Menu.

    2. Enter a Schema. The default value is set to public, but this value can be changed.

    3. Enter a Database value and select an optional database dialect from the dropdown. The database dialect default is GoogleStandardSQL. You can also select PostgreSQL.

    4. Enter a value for Project ID, which is the id of the project where your Google Spanner instance resides. You can find this value by going to Google Cloud Console and clicking the project name at the top-left screen. The ProjectId is displayed on the Id column of the matching project.

  8. To review your configuration, click Test Connection.

  9. Click Save.

After the connector details are accepted, the connection is created and listed under Connectors. You can now create data streams.
