Update a Web or Mobile App Data Stream

To ingest new events or fields in Data 360, update the schema on your website or mobile app connection, and then update each associated data stream.

When you change a connection’s schema, the data streams built from it aren’t updated automatically. Update each data stream to apply the changes. Schema changes must be additive. You can add events or fields, but the schema must retain all previous events and fields, and all engagement events must keep the same primary key. To change a primary key, either create a new connection and a data stream, or delete all data streams and then update the primary key on the existing connection.   1. In Data 360 Setup, click Websites & Mobile Apps, and open your connection.

  2. Click Update Schema, upload the revised JSON schema file, and click Save. The connection shows the updated event and field counts.

  3. Go to the Data Streams tab, and open the data stream created from that connection.

  4. To add fields to an event that’s already in the data stream, click Sync Schema. Data 360 updates the data stream’s fields to match the schema.

    If no new fields are available, Data 360 displays the message “No fields are available to sync”.

  5. To add an event, click Add Events, select the event, and click Deploy.

    New events aren’t added through Sync Schema. Engagement events are added to the Engagement data stream.

  6. In the Data Mapping card on the data stream, click Start, and map each new field to the appropriate data model object. New fields aren’t available for segments, calculated insights, or activations until they’re mapped.
