Returns the current date and time with time zone, based on the start of the current statement.

Syntax 

 
1now()

Returns 

Returns the current date and time as a timestamp with time zone value.

Considerations 
  • The value reflects the start time of the current statement, so multiple calls within one statement return the same value.
  • now() is equivalent to CURRENT_TIMESTAMP.

Examples 

Get the Current Timestamp 

Return the current date and time.

1SELECT now();

Returns a value such as 2001-12-23 14:39:53.662522-05.
