Build Apps with an Agent Skill

Salesforce Mobile SDK provides build skills, packaged instructions that an AI coding agent uses to scaffold and extend Mobile SDK 14.0 apps. Install the skills. Then describe the task in natural language (for example, “create a new iOS Mobile SDK app” or “add SmartStore and MobileSync to my Android app”). The agent applies the correct SDK setup, APIs, and project changes.

Install the Skills

Install Node.js so that npx is available. You also need an external client app or a connected app. See Create an External Client App or Creating a Connected App.

The open-source Mobile SDK Templates repository publishes the skills. For a new app, run this command in the folder where the agent creates the project. For an existing app, run the command from the project root:

1npx skills add forcedotcom/SalesforceMobileSDK-Templates

Describe the task to your agent. The agent loads the correct skill from your request and your project’s platform.

Available Build Skills

SkillPlatformWhat It Does
ios-mobile-sdkiOS (Swift)Create a new Mobile SDK app, or add capabilities to an existing app.
android-mobile-sdkAndroid (Kotlin)Create a new Mobile SDK app, or add capabilities to an existing app.

Each build skill can complete these tasks.

  • Create a new app with the Mobile SDK pre-integrated.
  • Add authentication (OAuth login) to an existing app.
  • Add SmartStore, an encrypted local database.
  • Add MobileSync, cloud sync on top of SmartStore.
  • Add biometric authentication: Face ID or Touch ID on iOS, and fingerprint, face, or iris on Android.

After the skill runs, build and test your app and review the changes before you commit them.

Note

Upgrading an Existing App

To upgrade an existing app to a newer Mobile SDK version, use the upgrade skills. See Upgrade with an Agent Skill. To upgrade from Mobile SDK 13.2 to 14.0, see Migrate All Apps from 13.2 to 14.0.
