How Are Patient and Member Relationships Modeled?

Health Cloud uses a household model to represent patients and members and their relationships with the people who participate in their care. A household is an account with the Household record type. The household is related to a person account using the Account Contact Relationship standard object.

You can relate the patient or member to relationship groups that include care plans and external contacts and accounts. Custom objects represent relationships with other caregivers and healthcare business entities.

Account Contact Relationship	Standard	The membership in a relationship group and the relationship between a person and an account. The membership in a relationship group lets you roll up a member’s information to the group. For a business account to be a member of a relationship group, the business must first be related to a person in the group. The Use Standard Trigger metadata type for Account-Contact Relationship Triggers can speed up relationship calculations for Accounts and Contacts. To see these fields update faster, go to the Custom Metadata Types page in Setup, and click Manage Records next to Use Standard Trigger. Then click Edit next to Account Contact Relationship Trigger.
