Assign Health Cloud Permission Sets and Permission Set Licenses

Permission sets enable users to use specific tools and settings according to their user license. With permission set licenses, you can give users access to features beyond those included in their basic user licenses. To use Health Cloud users need the Health Cloud permission set license and the Health Cloud Platform permission set license.

User Permissions Needed
To assign permission set licenses or permission sets: Manage Users

The information in this topic isn’t applicable for Health Cloud for Life Sciences. If you’re using Health Cloud for Life Sciences, see Assign the Health Cloud for Life Sciences Permission Set.

Note

Health Cloud is built directly into the Salesforce platform, but some of its features are delivered as a managed package. Health Cloud needs both parts to do its job. That’s why you need two permission set licenses: the Health Cloud Platform permission set license enables users to use the health-specific features built into core Salesforce, and the Health Cloud permission set license gives them access to the additional features delivered in the managed package.

There are other Health Cloud permission sets that grant access to specific Health Cloud objects and optional functionality you may need.

  1. Familiarize yourself with your list of available licenses and permissions and know what each does.
To see what permission set licenses are available, go to Company Settings in Setup and click Company Information.

The permission sets available to you depend in part on which features are included in your Salesforce contract.

    Note

  2. Assign the required permission set licenses to all your Health Cloud users.
    1. In the Permission Set License Assignments related list, select Edit Assignments, and then select Enabled for these permission set licenses:
      Health Cloud
This permission set license provides access to standard and custom Salesforce objects that enables features delivered in the Health Cloud managed package.
      Health Cloud Platform
This permission set license provides access to Health Cloud-related standard Salesforce objects for features that are built directly on the platform and aren't part of the managed package.
Health Cloud for Experience Cloud Site
This permission set license provides access to Health Cloud objects and features for site users.

The Health Cloud for Experience Cloud Site permission set license is currently not available for Partner Community users.

      Note

Don't assign a Health Cloud permission set to Health Cloud Experience site users. Doing so can prevent automatic upgrades to future releases. If you do have a user with an Experience Cloud site profile who also has a Health Cloud permission set, remove the user from the profile or remove the permission set from the user.

      Note

  3. Assign the required permission sets to all your Health Cloud users.
    1. In the Permission Set Assignments related list, select Edit Assignments, and then add the following permission sets to Enabled Permission Sets:
      Health Cloud Standard
This permission set provides access to basic Health Cloud features, including the Health Cloud console.
      Health Cloud Permission Set License
This permission set provides other features not covered under the Health Cloud Standard permission set.

This permission set is called “Health Cloud Permission Set License” because it works in tandem with the Health Cloud permission set license. Despite the name, it’s actually a permission set and not a permission set license.

      Note

  4. Assign other Health Cloud permission sets as needed.
    Health Cloud Foundation
Assigns read access to additional Health Cloud platform capabilities, including the Provider Network Management data model. Clone this permission set to create your own version where you can provide your users with additional access. For the included objects, see The Health Cloud Foundation Permission Set.
    Health Cloud Member Services
Assigns the Health Cloud Platform permission set license. Grants read-access to Health Insurance and Utilization Management records. Clone this permission set to create your own version and include write access. For the included objects, see The Health Cloud Member Services Permission Set.
    Health Cloud Social Determinants
Grants read access to Health Cloud Social Determinants records. Clone this permission set to create your own version and include write access. For the included objects, see The Health Cloud Social Determinants Permission Set.
    Health Cloud Utilization Management
Assigns the Health Cloud Platform permission set license. Grants read access to health insurance records and create, read, and update access to utilization management records. Clone this permission set to create your own version where you can provide your users with additional access. For the included objects, see The Health Cloud Utilization Management Permission Set.
    Provider Network Management
Enables payer organizations to manage provider credentialing and recruiting. For the included objects, see Provider Network Management Permission Set.
    CRM Analytics
Provides admins access to CRM Analytics for Health Cloud functionality. Clone this permission set to create your own version where you can provide your users with additional access.
    Health Cloud ERM
Provides permissions for Health Cloud Emergency Response Management.
  5. Save your changes.

To remove a permission set license from a user, remove the assigned permission set that requires the license, then remove the assigned permission set license.

The Health Cloud permission set license isn’t the same thing as the permission set called "Health Cloud Permission Set License." Removing the permission set called "Health Cloud Permission Set License" from a user prevents the user from seeing the Health Cloud user interface components, but doesn’t take away the user's access to Health Cloud custom objects, custom tabs, and custom settings. To fully prevent the user from accessing Health Cloud custom objects, tabs, and settings, you must also remove the Health Cloud permission set license.
