The Default Scheduling Policy for Home Health

Scheduling policies determine how the Field Service engine matches patients with resources in the field for their visits. Home Health offers a default scheduling policy that you can use to accelerate your implementation.
Available in: Enterprise and Unlimited Editions with Health Cloud and the Home Health Add-on license

You can generate the default scheduling policy by clicking the Enable Default Scheduling Policy button on the Home Health Setting page. Our default scheduling policy uses the following work rules to filter the list of appropriate field resources for visit assignment:

  • Earliest Start Permitted
  • Due Date
  • Resource Availability
  • Required Service Resource
  • Match Skills
  • Match Territory
  • Excluded Resources
  • Active Resources
  • Service Appointment Visiting Hours
  • Service Crew Resource Availability
  • Scheduled Start
  • Scheduled End

In addition to these work rules, our default scheduling policy also uses certain scheduling policy objectives and their specified weight to determine how to rank the available options for each assignment. Here’s the set of scheduling policy objectives that we use and their corresponding weight.

Scheduling Policy Objective Name Weight
ASAP 1
Skill Level 1
Resource Priority 1
Preferred Service Resource 10

Our default scheduling policy is meant to be used as a template to get your implementation started. If the default policy doesn’t meet the scheduling needs of your organization, create a scheduling policy with the appropriate rules and objectives.
